Vietnam’s Liner Shipping Connectivity up 13.7%

Vietnam has seen a significant jump in liner connectivity following its rise as a manufacturing powerhouse and a factory alternative to China. The nation's liner shipping connectivity leaped 13.7% year-on-year in Q4, rising five places to ninth in Sea-Intelligence's index.
 
From January to November 2023, Vietnam registered a 12% increase in exports, surpassing 2019 levels, according to MB Brokers' container market report. This is in large part due to growing trade into the North American region, where containerized exports from Vietnam increased by 44% during this same period.
Data from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development's (UNCTAD’s) 2023 report showed that Vietnam increased the share of U.S. container imports by 8% in 2022, up from 4% in 2017. The Ministry of Industry and Trade in Hanoi aims for a 6% export growth in 2024.
