News
We would like to bring to your attention the recent series of attacks on merchant ships in the Red Sea, which have become a daily occurrence. These attacks have included drones and anti-ship missiles, resulting in successful and attempted strikes on various types of ships.
Over the past week, notable incidents include the Norwegian tanker "Strinda" being hit, missiles narrowly missing the product tanker "Ardmore Encounter" and the "Maersk Gibraltar," and the 15,000 TEU container ship "Al Jasrah" from Hapag-Lloyd being targeted. Fortunately, the "Al Jasrah" managed to continue its journey despite the attack.
In response to these incidents, container shipping companies such as Hapag-Lloyd, CMA-CGM, Maersk, and MSC have made the decision to avoid sailing through the Suez Canal until further notice. As a result, ships will be taking the alternative route around the Cape of Good Hope. This change in route will impact transit times, departure density, schedule reliability, and available container capacities. We anticipate that prices will be affected by the longer route, and new surcharges may be implemented.
Given the circumstances, we want to inform you that longer transit times, vessel delays, and possible handling obstacles may occur due to port congestion. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide you with regular updates to keep you informed. Should you have any concerns or queries, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service team. We are here to assist you.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this challenging time. We remain committed to supporting your business and minimizing any disruptions to your supply chain.
Best regards,
SATIM Solution Team
